Cornerstone 3: Programmes

How we build transformational communities of people living from the inside-out.

How you can begin your personal or collective journey.

Our learning journeys are built on years of coaching experience and leverage our proprietary coaching tools to support the development of high-quality coaches, managers, leaders and people.

We support individuals and organizations through our learning journeys and ongoing coaching. Our goal is to lead participants through transformation so that they are then able to help others through a similar journey.

All of our programmes, whether face-to-face, online or blended, are delivered with a  mix of facilitation, lectures, demonstrations, pair work and feedback, and practice sessions. Each journey is supported by our experienced faculty, alumni support and other learning participants.

Supported by an online learning platform, we focus on learning consolidation through a flipped learning model (link to flipped learning) and the High Performance Learning Journey (link to HPLJ) methodology. This leads us to place a great emphasis on the practicing of skills that are taught in each session, so that facilitators can give feedback and assistance in a safe environment.

Coach Development

Our flagship coach development programme, the Certificate in Professional Coaching, is delivered both via a blended learning approach and also fully online as a virtual programme.

Accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), students develop the skills and abilities to become certified coaches via 5 modules over a period of 5 or 6 months, depending on which pathway (blended or virtual) you decide to take.

This programme teaches skills aligned with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) core competencies and includes:

  • 79 Coach Specific Training Hours, including
  • 63 hours of synchronous facilitated workshops and
  • 16 hours of self-study (asynchronous activities)
  • Also includes 10 hours of mentoring (click through to coach-mentoring)
  • Coaching practice sessions and partner work

Programme Overview

Embark Module:

The initial module lays the foundations of the North Point Academy transformational approach and philosophy.

Topics include the definition of coaching, the importance of vulnerability in coaching, worldviews and the North Point Meta-Model, which is the basis of all of NPA models.

Approach Module:

In this module, students will learn the core skills and principles of coaching and begin applying these skills in practical coaching sessions. By the end of the module, students will have coaching tools to develop deeper, more meaningful relationships that bring positive change for the world.

The content includes the conversational skills of coaching, such as active listening and powerful questioning, as well as introducing students to Goal Mapping and The Journey coaching model.

Traverse Module:

Starting with a deep dive into the important topic of coaching ethics, the Traverse Module focuses on the practical skills of taking clients through a set of coaching engagements – the coaching journey – starting with the initial session and finishing with the closing session and how to find clients.

Ascend Module:

The intention of this module is to deepen the student’s coaching knowledge and practice by exploring values and beliefs and introducing powerful coaching tools to assist us and our clients. These sessions build on the core coaching skills training learned in the previous modules, coaching practice groups and self-study that has been completed up to this point.

Elevate Module:

The final module prepares students to become North Point Academy Coaches. Students will be able to identify potential niches and tools to empower them to become successful NPA Coaches, wherever they choose to coach.

Graduation Project:

Pro-bono coaching project with a client and submission of a recording for assessment. At this point, students will gain access to the full NPA alumni community.

Coach Mentoring

There are 10 coach-mentor sessions included in our Certificate in Professional Coaching programme.

All of our coach-mentors hold at least an ACC (Associate Credentialed Coach) level of ICF credential or above (and in the case of ACC, have done for at least 3 years) as per the ICF requirements for coach-mentors.

A mix of small group and individual sessions, the content of the coach-mentor sessions depends on the specific goals, learning needs and challenges set by the mentee. The mentor will spend time discussing the self-study aspects of the course, as well as observing coaching sessions in order to give feedback.

These sessions can also be purchased separately as a coach-mentor package for coaches who are not part of our certification or for those wanting further mentor sessions.

Coaching

We offer coaching packages to support the development of executives, high-potentials, new leaders, and individuals.

Our packages can be tailored to one-on-one or group coaching.

Our coaches come from a wide variety of backgrounds and geographic locations. All have completed the North Point Academy coach training, ensuring a consistent approach and tools for coaching. We work closely with each client to understand their goals and develop a coaching program to best support their needs.

Corporate

We help organisations create a high-performance culture which frees individuals to have a greater positive impact both personally and professionally.

We do this by leading individuals and teams into transformation through greater self-knowledge and understanding of how their actions impact others, by using our proprietary models and tools.

Impactful coaching-style conversations allows managers to dig deeper to understand their employees better which builds trust, empowerment, openness and creativity. Coaching conversations also dramatically increase employee engagement.

Our focus is on people. We don’t rely only on teaching skills, as training alone does not result in learning retention. Instead, our intention is towards growing insight and awareness that in turn leads to more effective ways to address situations.  This may include giving leaders tools and wisdom that unlock insight and awareness which enable better outcomes.

The benefits to the organisation of developing a culture of coaching and feedback includes:

  • Deeper relationships between employees
  • increased employee satisfaction
  • reduced turnover and absenteeism
  • increased productivity
  • higher customer satisfaction scores
  • increased innovation
  • improved profitability

We have developed programmes for executives, managers and employees to support:

  • Diversity and integration programmes
  • Leadership development
  • Impactful Communication
  • In-House Coaches training

We have also created customized coaching packages tailored to a specific organization’s needs.

Personal Transformation Journey

Whether you want to be a better manager, parent, or simply to invest in yourself, this programme is about supporting you thorough your personal transformation journey.

We are focused on helping participants shine the light on themselves and their circumstances in order to make transformative shifts in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. We can’t promise an easy journey, but we can promise lasting results.

During our learning journeys, we walk you through the North Point Meta-model, which will provide a framework for uncovering and understanding your behavioral and thought patterns. This model also helps you explore the impact your actions have on others.

We will then introduce you to the North Point visioning tool providing the framework for you to unlock your potential and develop a plan for reaching your goals.

Finally, you will dive into your beliefs and values. This will allow you to see the impact of your beliefs and values and identify where they may be hindering you from reaching your goals (or if your goals even align to your values).

After completing this learning journey, previous participants have shared how the North Point experience has transformed their understanding of themselves and how they relate to others.
